Macro (2019) is a series of experimental macro photographs for my senior high school thesis. My concentration is a series of black and white macro photographs. As you look at my pieces it can be confusing as to what the individual subjects are. It was my intention to remove color and showcase the subjects in their most elemental form, making them more mysterious and harder to readily discern. This is purposeful, as looking superficially often prohibits the viewer from accurate comprehension. If the viewer allows themselves to let go of preconceived ideas, they can interpret the pieces simply as intriguing compositions of light, shadow, form, and texture. Conversely, the viewer may seek to decipher the true nature of the object. Both are valid interpretations. Only by gaining a different perspective and opening up your mind can you appreciate and understand what lies in front of you.
