Macro (2019)

Macro (2019) is a series of experimental macro photographs for Alwan’s senior high school thesis. His black and white macro photographs are mysterious and difficult to readily discern. As you look at the photographs it can be confusing as to what the individual subjects are. By removing color, Alwan showcases the objects in their most elemental form. If the viewer allows themselves to let go of preconceived ideas and release their need for accurate comprehension, they can interpret the pieces simply as captivating compositions of light, shadow, form, and texture.
